Hello,
I've seen someone using a suction tool to hold pots when glazing (dipping).
The tool was attached to a compressor and held pretty large pots, too.
I can't find this tool in neither bailey's nor laguna's catalog.
Does anyone know where could I get one?
Thanks,
Lajos

I have one of these suction glazing tools and it works great. It works on
vacuum not a compressor.
I purchased it from Axner it is called a glaze hand I think.

Hi,
Well, as you may have guessed from the other potst, you will need a vacuum
pump, not a compressor, and that will probably be the most expensive item.
You can make your own suction device using pvc fittings, inner tube, hose
clamp & plastic hose. Shouldn't cost more than $20 all told. Get a pvc
bushing 2" to 3" dia. w/ 1/4" female thread on the back side. Find an inner
tube (wheel barrow or go-cart tubes are about the right size range) which
matches the diameter of the large end of the bushing. Cut a section of the
tube about 3" long (as if you were cutting squid).
Pull one end of the tube section over the large end of the bushing. Then
pull the open end of the tube back to create a sleeve with 1/8" or so
extending out the end. Secure with the hose clamp, fit a suction line &
valve to it & you're ready to glaze away. No tong marks, finger smears,
etc.
