feriz delkic says `a.p. greene's best kaowool blanket
is the best on the market...by far.` it is the only
thing he will purchase, and he buys it by the ton.

cheap kaowool, or bargain fibre is out there, but
it is not worth the money you save.

in fact, i do not know what the name of the new
a.p. greene company is. it has been bought and
sold three times i think, in the last ten years.

anyone have info on this?

OK, here's an explanation:

Kaowool is a BRAND NAME, like Kleenex, or Nabisco. It is, in fact, fairly
crummy refractory...it has one of the lowest temperature ratings on the
market, only 2300 degrees. It is looser and less dense than higher-temp
blankets.

We buy our refractory blanket from a local manufacturer that does, I think,
a much better job than Kaowool. It is denser, holds together better, has a
longer service life, and is rated to 2700 degrees.

The difference in temperature ratings stems from two factors; one, the
chemical composition of the refractory fibers, and two, the density of the
blanket.

Hope that this helps.
