Subject: kaowool ratings

feriz delkic says `a.p. greene's best kaowool blanket
is the best on the market...by far.` it is the only
thing he will purchase, and he buys it by the ton.

cheap kaowool, or bargain fibre is out there, but
it is not worth the money you save.

in fact, i do not know what the name of the new
a.p. greene company is. it has been bought and
sold three times i think, in the last ten years.

anyone have info on this?

There are now 2 types of fibre on the market: the old Alumina Silicate
fibre now rated (in the UK) as a grade 2 Carcinogen (sp?), and the newer
version which is a Calcium Magnesium Silicate which *Body Soluble* and
therefore not cumulative.
The old Fiberfrax is now owned by Unifrax (an American company), their
*safe* fibre is marketed in the UK as Isofrax. The *safe* fibre made by
Thermal Ceramics (who made Kaowool) is now called Superwool in the UK.
Isofrax is rated to 1250oC, Superwool to 1260, though the standards by
which performance is rated have changed as well. I'm not up to speed on
the new standards yet.
