stainless steel kiln wraps

Where can one get the type of stainless steel used in the belts that hold
the rings on an electric kiln together? I have "fixed" those on my very old
kiln with some found at the dump, and that stuff plumbers use --the strap
with holes--for suspending pipe...but where could I get the steel? What does
one ask for.

You need large hose clamps for the pulling/clamping straps. You can easily
drill and use bolt/nut or pop rivets to hold it down. I don't know why a heavy
aluminum flashing cannot be substituted for the jacket or over your current
s/s jacket. Aluminum can be cut with sheet metal scissors but the heavier
stainless requires more expensive power tools. I have never seen a jacket so
badly damaged that it needs to be completely replaced so good luck with your
project! Rick

The aluminum would deteriorate rather quickly if subjected to the stresses
of a kiln.
