I'm sorry, Lili, but that is not true at all. It is very easy to hold the
wood block securely in place while drilling, as long as one is in a
comfortable position, concentrating on the task at hand. I do not know
where you got this idea. It isn't a problem at all. It takes no skill or
strength. But being clay artists, we all have both skill and strength, so
it will be as easy as can be.
Best wishes -

Second. There are drill stops which are not costly, are put ON a bit and
prevent it from going in too far. (Oughta get some for my dentist.)
INVALUABLE tool supplement for those of us who need to use quite a bit of
pressure to control a drill.....

Ok., Vince. I need to hold an electric drill with two hands if it is to
do any precision job. Yes, we own several electric drills and my Milwaukee
is fairly light. My caution was too broad, and I apologize. Let me put it
this way: older potters with arthritis and other damage to hands and arms
may not be able to hold the block of wood in place. They may need help.
