Russel,

The only thing that we do is to make sure that the ochre is calcined.
We do not ball mill the "Chinese Cobalt" mixture. I would add that we
only use it for decorating not as a glaze colorant.

When we mix our darker blue glaze we use some red iron with the cobalt
and make a habit of ball milling the colorants when there is red iron in
the mix. Usually we will ball mill with some of the silica from the
glaze.

On the formula with kaolin in it, I would be concerned that the kaolin
makes it opaque, not necessarily a bad thing, and would make sure that
is the result that I wanted.
