Hello,
I am looking for a used foot pedal to make a wheel with. I was going to just
make a banding wheel but then i found a nice dc motor at a scrap yard that
is in good condition and should be strong enough for a throwing wheel, so i
will just make one and use it in the spray booth for now. If anyone has an
extra pedal that works please let me know. I can pay cash and i also have
some extra tools i could trade as well. Thanks,
Paul B

Paul -
The pedal units found on electric variable speed wheel like a Brent work in
conjunction with an electronic controller, which works in conjunction with a
very specific kind of DC variable speed motor. If your motor is AC, it will
not work with any of the pedals and controllers used on contemporary
variable speed wheels.

The device that is often used to vary the speed of AC motors is a rheostat,
and an AC motor/rheostat combination will not work on an electric wheel,
because it has no low end torque. Most variable-speed DC-motor electric
wheels have a feedback circuit which gives constant high torque throughout
the speed range.

Sorry if this screws up your plans, but better to know now.

Try a used sewing machine store.. I have used old sewing machine foot pedals
with great success.. Their motors are also DC. It is possible that a
large motor from a sewing machine might be enough to power your banding
wheel. Usually they are not very expensive..
