Dear Clayarts,
Could anyone recommend a good text or web site with up to date
information on making slip for casting. I am looking for information on
the different deflocculants, including sodium silicate, soda ash,
barium carb., and Darvan 811, the plusses and minuses of each etc. Also
a discussion of the effect on the cast of the specific gravity and
viscosity (flow).

thanks,

I used Kenny's book on the Complete Book of Potterymaking but it is very
old.

Try Andy Martin's "The Definitive Guide to Mold Making and Slip Casting",
MAGUS Publications.
