Bits of Bugs Glow, to Delight a Queen
At the invitation of the king and queen of Belgium, an
artist has decorated the Royal Palace with the wing cases of
almost a million Asian jewel beetles.

I find I would have to fill out a form giving far too personal information
that would then be available over the web to anyone NYT wishes to sell that
info to just to read your article. No thanks, I get too much spam as it is
and giving m family financials to get their news is offensive to me.

There is no need to fill out forms like this with TRUE personal
information--just fake it.
For what it's worth, I've "subscribed" to the New York Times on-line for
over four years. The "spam," as you call it, that they send to me is a
brief, text-only message, perhaps once every two months, telling me of new
features they have added to their on-line newspaper. And it always
includes a link to enable me stop receiving the messages. Helpful, useful,
informative.
You're gonna miss out on a good thing!

Yes, it's TRUE. But only the ceiling of one of the large reception rooms
and the chandelier hanging from it. I've only seen the news reports
about it but it looks fantastic, irridescent greens and blues. I'll go
see it when they have the palace open house this summer. Paola's a great
art lover and also presented the Queen of Sweden with a nice ceramic
piece by Tjok Desauvage.

finally saw the pic of the NYT. very impressive.=20
this reminded me of the tamamushi-no-zushi, a 7-th century miniature =
shrine,=20
one of treasures of hou-ryu-ji temple, nara, japan. this is a lacquer =
ware.=20
thousands of tamamushi jewel beetle wings were used in the panel.
mr.fabre, the artist, is right. the wing (and the lacquer) survived =
better than paint=20
after 13 centuries.
