Hi All!
Anyone up for this? I have one in the kiln right now that will probably =
set the standard for ugly tea pots. Don't know what I was thinking, but =
went to all that trouble slab building it so by gosh gonna fire it too!
Here's the deal: =20
When mine is done I'm going to put it up on a web page for all the world =
to see. If, at that time you think you can beat it with an uglier one, =
send it to me and we will let this list vote! Or, you can send me a =
digital picture now and I'll start the page earlier.
Take care, hope your stuff comes out great!

Hi,
When I was at college in South Wales and learning to throw we once had a
competition - who could throw, pull the handle and assemble a teapot in
the shortest time.
I think that one minute 20 seconds was the record [lid made but not put
on].
Although they were teapots only in name and we certainly played fast and
loose with the dignity of the artform it did help a group of students
who were becoming too uptight and precious with what they were doing to
relax and just throw.
Sadly [!] I don't have any pictures of the results,

At Penland many years ago the instructors had the group of us each make the
4 components, which were then placed on tables, and we were to march
around selecting a base from one pile, a spout from another, handle and
lid....and then assemble the whole shebang...all in a few minutes...the
teapots were extremely lively and funny! I too wish I had saved the
pictures! (they were never actually fired)
