I spent an astonishing day today watching Goro Suzuki
demonstrate...
The day started with him throwing hollow balls...rolling them in
his hand and tossing them onto a board...playfully....
then he threw cups...that were perched on top of the
balls...then he would take a coil and twist it with the
wheel...that would become the handle.
The entire day was filled with surprising ways
to handle clay...he is both innovative....surprising
in his solutions to the creation of form...
and exhibited tremendous wisdom with clay.

I have spent my time working with clay while it
is soft/wet....plastic...but he was a
surprise...all day...

I think days like today.... is as good as it gets...
and I am grateful I got the opportunity....
The next best part is to watch how the
experience is integrated, absorbed
and then expressed in my work....

Thank you to the forces of the universe
for providing me the joy of this day...
