Dear Clayarters,
I have a Bentrup TC60 controller. On my glaze firing it shut down at about
900 centigrade with an error message. which the manual states as thermocouple
circuit or wiring bad.
I noticed that the ceramic cover of the thermocouple in the kiln had fallen
off and also that the plastic clip retaining the lead from controller to kiln
had loosened.
I tested the elements with some paper and they all heated equally and tried
to refire but the same error happened at the same temperature.
My phone call to the supplier was not a success so I hope that some kind
knowledgeable clayart person will help.
I am new to all this, find the clay community wonderful and enjoy the
experience immensely. I am a dentist near to retirement and hope that
pottery becomes my next career. There are quite a few crossovers such as
alginate casts, plaster moulds and porcelain crowns.
