Dear Craig Dunn Clark,

I think there may be some confused thinking about the similarities and =
differences of Salt, aka sodium Chloride and soda, aka Sodium Carbonate =
as they are used to create glazes.

Being different chemicals with differing compositions they will not =
react in an identical manner with other materials at high temperatures.=20

I do have hypothetical ideas about both and what I have read gives me =
some support in thinking that I am on the right track in sorting out =
their chemistries with clays.=20

My answer to the question about Insulating Refractories would be that =
eventually both will react, but for different reasons. About ITC !!! I =
would not know. A prop material of unknown composition.

Best regards,

Ivor Lewis=20
