I've tried 'Sairset as an interior coating on fiber. What a disaster!
Large flakes all over the kiln, taking the fiber with it.
'Sairset is an air-curing, heat-setting adhesive mortar that works very
well for its intended purpose. ITC100HT is a high-emissivity
surface coating that is compatible with every refractory material I have
tried (hard brick, IFB, fiber, castable).
It so dramatically reflects radiant heat back towards the interior of
the kiln that I have fired ^04 scupture to maturity in a PLYWOOD
box coated with a thin coat of ITC on the inside and 3 1/2" of
fiberglass building insulation on the outside. Sure, the whole thing
burned down,
but the sculpture was fired to maturity before the "kiln" collapsed.

Over the years, I've tried all kinds of substitutes for ITC, because of
the price. Nothing similar found so far, so I pony up the
buck$ and use it in many ways. Looking at the results achieved, it was
CHEAP.

Hope this helps,

Roger
