I have been using my 4 frit 4 China clay 2 silica 2 feldspar 1
whiting 1 talc (all by parts) glaze for years with 1 part iron oxide.
Its a very good natured glaze with a wide temperature range
All glazes need to tested with varying firing schedules to find the
one your kiln likes best.

read "Rich irony" and "Basic stoneware glaze" in the clayglazexplore
link on the web site http://www.gartside.info

Also look under "Crackle glazes" to read see a lot of 50/50, mixtures
that will feed your interest in crawling and cracked surfaces.
