artists, curators, collectors, writers, experts, educators and students =
in the ceramic field, who want to know about ceramic art in China and =

ACTIVITIES
Yixing Ceramic Artists Delegation Visits the US
Organized by the Chinese Ceramic Art Council, USA, a group of six Yixing =
ceramic artists will be arriving in San Francisco on March 6th, and will =
be leaving for China on March 22nd. During the time they are in the US, =
they will be meeting San Francisco Bay Area artists at the =
Clayground=E2=80=99s opening reception of the Yixing Ceramic Art =
Traveling Exhibition, and a Yixing Clay Demonstration will be held at =
the same time with free admission from 2-5 pm, Sunday, March 9th (see =
details below). March 10th the artists will visit San Jose State =
University, and will present a workshop and slide presentation at the =
school. March 12th-15th they will participate in the NCECA (the National =
Council on Education for the Ceramic Art) conference in San Diego, and =
show their slides at the International Forum.

CURATORS WANTED:

Arrangement of the Yixing Ceramic Art Traveling Exhibition, USA =
2003-2004

The Chinese Ceramic Art Council, USA, and the Ceramic Art Branch of the =
Arts and Crafts Association of Jiangsu Province, China, are working =
together to host the =E2=80=9CYixing Ceramic Art Traveling Exhibition, =
USA, 2003-2004.=E2=80=9D The contents of the show will be about 50 =
pieces of smaller sizes done by the most talented, well-known Chinese =
clay artists, and most of the art works will be Zisha (un-glazed =

We are looking for some art galleries and museums to work together to =
display this exhibition in different areas in the United States.

Shipping and Insurance:
The Chinese Ceramic Art Council, USA will pay the shipping for the art =
works from China to the US, and ship them to the gallery or museum for =
the show. The exhibition host has to pay the insurance during the =
exhibitions, and pay the shipping costs and insurance for returning the =
art works to California, or a third-party address in the US.

Fee and Commission:=20
The exhibition host needs to pay the exhibit rental fee, which is $400 =
for the first two weeks and $100 for each additional week. The =
exhibition host may take 25% of the retail price of art work that it =
sells, but the sold art work must be retained until the end of the =
exhibition. The retail prices of the art work range from $200 to $3,000. =

Schedule Available: Any time from the end of May 2003 through the year =
of 2004.

The New London Art Center presents a workshop featuring two Chinese =
ceramic artists Meiqun Gu & Guangzhen Zhou and an invitational =
exhibition of =E2=80=9CYixing Ceramics.=E2=80=9D

The workshop will consist of a three-day intensive workshop that will =
include firing techniques, clay composition and preparation, and kiln =
design as well as cultural aspects of their craft. It will also =
concentrate on the hand-building techniques that are used to create =
their famous teapots. There will be demonstrations of round and square =
Yixing Teapot construction, using traditional tools and slab techniques. =
Students will learn the secrets behind this process while every step is =
demonstrated in detail, illustrating the importance of craftsmanship and =
precision. There will also be demonstrations on emulating nature in clay =
with techniques showing teapots made to look like wood or bamboo.=20
