I have finally found my digital camera. It was lost for a time and I
had thoughts about all the things that I would have to give up to buy
another one.
Having said this, I have had two kiln loads since the last one that
have not made it to my website. In each and in the most recent one,
which is posted at
http://www.sdpottery.com/Ceramic_Misc/New_Arrivals.htm
I found that by adding back the Rutile into the Waterfall brown
(from "Mastering Cone 6 Glazes") that it completely changed the look
of all the pieces that included that glaze either applied over or
under the Licorice Black or the Chrome Green. These glazes and their
modifications are located on the web page -
http://www.sdpottery.com/Frame_Pages/Frame_Index_Glazing.htm
The colors are darker, more brown, and the stellar blues that were in
the 1/31/03 kiln batch are gone. I never knew that the addition of
Rutile would make so much difference.
If you wish to compare the two sets of ware the first set from kiln
opening 1/31 is on the above web link. When it opens just click
on "Glazing Session 1/31/3002" and look toward the bottom of the page.
I have not yet updated the glazing session for this most recent batch
of pieces.
The one good thing that came from putting the Rutile back into the
Waterfall Brown is the following image:
http://www.sdpottery.com/images/New_Arrivals/Djinn%20Bottle.jpg
The top of the bottle has a thick coating of Licorice Black and the
bottom a thinner coat of Waterfall Brown. I like how it turned out
on this piece.
I am going to do a side by side series that includes the Waterfall
Brown sans the Rutile and the same glaze in its original formulation
and then see what happens.
Hope ya'll enjoy!!!!!
