Hi all you cone 6 oxidation glaze mavens,
=20
I've been following the thread on iron red glazes and here's one to try =
out. It's a nice hare's fur at cone 6 oxidation but it can be a =
spectacular bright iron red with areas of caramel tan when refired to =
cone 06 to 04--when the kiln gods are smiling. The refiring part has =
proven to be somewhat fickle, so I'm going to try the same cool down =
cycle I've been using with great success on the Ron Roy/John Hesselberth =
glazes and see what happens.

Here's the recipe:
=20
Iron Red #5 (aka Lamont Caramel Apple)
=20
1500 Frit 3134=20
750 Dolomite =20
1500 Spodumene=20
1500 Kentucky OM #4=20
375 Bone ash =20
375 Talc =20
1500 Flint
---------
7500
=20
add:
1125 Red iron oxide
150 Bentonite
=20
It seems to be a stable glaze according to the limit formula for cone 6 =
glazes offered by Ron and John in Mastering Cone 6 Glazes. Give it a =
shot and tell me your results. Comments are welcome.

Have fun at NCECA. Hopefully I'll see you at Indianapolis next year!
