I couldn't pull myself away from Donovan's Kiln builder booth at NCECA. They
were showing Don Reitz and crew building, loading, firing, and unloading his
kiln in AZ. I bought the DVD. It is wonderful ! The kiln is a relatively
new design for an anagama.....with a flat floor....and tall enough to walk
into. They show stacking of Don's large pieces with small pieces
in-between....some tumble stacked, some on shelves. There are shots from the
upper stoke holes during the firing, which show the flow of the flame. Just
to see these men working and smiling is a joy .....and the finished pieces
on display are beautiful !

My friend, singer-songwriter Bill Ward scored the music for this video.
The music was written specifically for the video, although I haven't had
a chance to hear the final result yet.
