Some of the photo's in front of the Mingei Museum in Balboa Park
feature lovely and fabulous CLAYARTERS leaning against or lounging
upon also fabulous large scale, brightly colored mosaic sculptures
these are the work of Niki De Saint Phalle. (As is the Zaftig floating
Blue goddess hanging in the atelier of the Mingei)
A French artist born in 1930, who made her home in LaJolla (or Del
Mar?) until her recent death in fall of 2002. She has a very
interesting life story. Her work , in recent years was constructed and
assembled here in San Diego.
