Robin, ( did not sign his books for me) Writes in the Ceramic Spectrum, that the
whole story is about 13 oxides or so.
It is very simple: For you knowledge: Math is only about 10 numbers, digits, or so, very
simple too. However like in math there are endless ways to exhibits these oxides. As
a glaze addict I have about 90 materials some of them are just the test of the "big
world".
With these 90 materials I can make endless kinds of glazes with the weirdest
Combinations.

HOWEVER

Crystal glazes are much easier only four or five materials! If you will look in recipes like
mine:

clay but works fine
Lithium Carbonate 2.00
Nickel Oxide 2.00 The nickel I use to test the different recipes as it shows the
contrast colors of yellow and blue.

About my glaze: When I planed it I had bill's recipes in front of me. I used the red clay
with the guessed analysis, because I wanted to add red iron oxide for the color.
Frit 2120 is different than 3110 it does not have B2O3, but pretty similar.

Some of the slides will be in both pages.
I promised you a recipe a day but wars are not making me creative. I am waiting for
pictures but it seems to me that I will get them only on Tuesday . I will write some
letters and these of you that will want to see the whole picture will not delete them
and re read my letters when I will be done.

Back to the so simple crystal glazes: BECAUSE they are so simple every little change
is a big change: sometime a critical change!
My most favorite way is Ababi's(it is me) 11

MY SECOND CRYSTAL GLAZE 11
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Cone 6 1222 deg.C. -
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

frit A 2120 45.00
zinc oxide calcined 23.00
frit A 2120 20.00
red clay calcined 10.00
Lithium Carbonate 2.00
Nickel Oxide 3.00
Titanium Dioxide 2.00
Red Iron Oxide 1.00
You can see it in that page.

But what shall I do when I cannot buy frit 2120?
I made some tests with MFE and the best was
Nickel Oxide 3.00
Titanium Dioxide 2.00
Red Iron Oxide 1.00
Therefore: MFE11!
I tried to add more RIO, 2% but it was not good.
Crystal glazes can be the most beautiful but they can be the most saccharinity- it
does not matter how hard you work to achieve them! I know when I fire crystal I am
the slave of the kiln all day long - and sometimes the results... not to be written in a
proper list like ours! Yet might be saccharinity!
The "11" glaze is very special, sometimes, you hardly see the crystals looks like an
antique furniture I don't know exactly why it happens, but I love it.
