Reminds me of the idea Don Reitz had in his closing speech at NCECA about selling celebrity precentered clay. Just imagine, He said, how much better you would throw if you could buy Soldner pre centered clay.....Very funny..... but maybe you had to be there. My delivery might be off.

Hi:

Funny and a bit of Deja Vu. About 30 yrs ago Ceramics Monthly had these
bogus adds toward the rear of the mag. They were representing "Captian
Ceramics" who offered: "Precentered Clay on Prepinned Bats" and
"Prestarted Cylinders on Prepinned Bats" Other stuff too. There was also
a short hook in the add saying something like: "Eliminate that first
bothersome step".

I tried to order, of course, but the add was a hoax. I was devastated.

I remember an ad in Ceramics Monthly for leatherhard tea pot parts. I heard
some people actually tried to order them. Patricia

Pre-Centering???
This reminds me of my first NCECA in Denver about 1979 or so.
Paul Soldner on stage...
He plops 25 pounds of white clay on the wheelhead
Gets it moving in a roundish form
Takes a second 25 pounds lump of gray clay on top of the white
Gets that moving in a roundish form
Jams his wrist and arms down into this mass of clay
Pulls a wall and proceeds to make a rather large, tall, wobbling pot
Looks up at the audience and say..."Who needs to center?"

Keep Centered (or reseaonably centered)
