carbon trappers: fuel....jealous

Oh yea,

By the way, I fired carbon trap shino in a west coast updraft as well as a
forced air downdraft. The trick is knowing your kiln, listening to it,
smelling it, and of course, some lov'in goes a long way. In my sleep
induced pyschotropic state of standing while asleep in meta-cognitive dream
waking sequences, fading in and out of the reality of the alchemetical
sphere of fusion and elemental transmorgification, you would find me having
a psychic conversation/awareness with the fire and a sense of the
partnership of the act of in-creation. There was much to be had such as the
reminder to not fire your anagama by yourself for 30 hours without any
sleep. No longer do the Village People recant, "m-a-c-h-o- m-a-c-h-o
man." It's the kind of thing you only need to prove to yourself once, well,
maybe 2 or 3 times.

Thank you.

Hi Connie, Thanks for your Clayart reply...Getting a number of responses
from people that are getting good carbon trap with natural gas. Yet to hear
from anyone that fires an updraft though.

Ask and you shall receive...

Your "jealous" comment brings to mind....... the Shino Master will be in
your neck of the woods, doing a week long workshop at Laloba Ranch June
11-18. Here is a link for the details:

Well, OK;

I wasn't going to answer this thread because though I do fire in an
updraft with natural gas, I do not use soda ash in my Shinos. However,
those who have been to www.murrow.biz/hank know that good shinos are
there to be had with natural gas in an updraft. You just have to give
up the idea of carbon trap if there is no soluble material in your
glaze..........but Oh the firecolor!

Cheers, hank in Eugene
