Excellent advice, Tony, but remember floor tiles have very strict standards
that all in some way are related to avoiding a customer's not slipping and
taking a fall, especially when wetted.Surface slickness, more and hardness
are part of those standards. If handmade tile are incorporated, they must be
out of the traffic pattern I would assume.
This is one of the ''fold 'em'' ones in my book.

Julie: I have glazed kiln shelves for larger absolutely non warped tiles,
but for $3 this would not be my plan of attack. Since the customer wants
you be part of her dream tile job. Why not suggest a majority of Home
Depot tiles with the inclusion of some handmade and hand decorated tiles as
accent pieces.
Otherwise, this tile job might well be given the words of advice sung by
Kenny Rogers in the Gambler. Know when to hold them, know when to fold them
and know when to walk away.
Even, firing 600 12 x 12 tiles in a electric kiln in the basement to cone
10 sounds like Mission Impossible. My shelves are 16 x 32 and I have twenty
of them.I'd get two of your tiles to a shelf which means I'd fire 40 in a
firing. that's fifteen firings in a mid size gas kiln. That's at 100%
success rate which never happens expecially on commissions. I only fire it
25 times a year.
Potters would be outta their minds to go head to head with tile companies.
Help your customer source the tiles and then suggest you make accent pieces
for the hall, her kitchen whatever. Leave the tiles for the off shore gang.
cheers,
Tony
