pyrometer problems...

Wood fire friends...
Suddenly around cone 8 my digital readout for the pyrometer went haywire.
Changed battery, changed probe to no avail. Switched to my old analog
readout, it worked okay, tho' always inaccurate at high end. I got the
digital readout from Bailey. Anyone else had this experience. I will
check with them on warranty...its not that old...

Not firing with wood, but I purchased a Fluke 50s from Bailey last fall.
It's never been right. Sent it back to Fluke for recalibration. Still
won't read over 2200 and I fire to hot cone 10. Bailey had no answers.

That sort of behaviour is usually associated with a disconnected wire
somewhere in the thermocouple. Nothing to do with the battery.
