Is the art pen you are having trouble with, Brackner's Air Pen?
I have one of those and it took me a while to it to work without clogging -
the consistency of the glaze and sieving the glaze with an 80 mesh are
crucial. As well as thorough pen cleaning It does a great job when I get the
glaze right. . I have now lost all my needle wires, and it is really hard
to get those things clean without them!

Has anyone had any experience with an air compressor-powered gizmo called an
art pen that claims to be able to allow one to draw with glazes? I bought
one and all it does is clog or dribble no matter what thickness the liquid
is. I'm hoping someone has had some success and is willing to share
technique.

Bracker's sells a regulator for the air pen ($9) if you want to regulate the
flow. I've been using my air pen for two years and I love it! If it runs,
use a smaller opening tip or a thicker glaze. I also sieve my glazes or
englobes [what I use it for most] before using it. I also don't use a needle
wire to clean up. I just soak the tips in water and use the tip of my
paasche compressor to blow out the wet glazes.

You can't get the sponge wet so be careful not to lay it on it's side. When
I have trouble with the flow, I just exchange the sponge for a dry one.

It was one of my best investments. Just love it.

Anne and anyone else, who has trouble with no wires for cleaning the air
pen, or needle slip trailers, the wire inside ties for bags is just the
right size and works very well. Since these come with most garbage bags,
etc., one can have an unending source!

Susan
I tried blowing out the plug in one of the needles with my compressor. It
blew it out all right. Right across the room.
I never did find that needle. Thank goodness the animals weren't in the
studio that day!!!

I got the regulator at NCECA this year. Makes quite a difference.
