Hi! After chasing down a small amt of Stannous Chloride (much easier =
to find
50 lb lots) I attired myself in safety gear & sprayed a couple of whi=
te
terra sig coated pots after applying horsehair when I pulled them out=
of the
kiln at about 1650=BAF. They appeared to become quite shiny though I =
didn't
see any pearly irridescence.........bummer. Anyway, when I wiped off =
the
residual ash from the horsehair once they had cooled, one of them dev=
eloped
small ugly white spots on part of where I rubbed. I'm assuming I rubb=
ed off
the shine, and this was underneath......tin white spots. So..........=
.
I'm wondering if it would be safe to put it back in the bisque kiln ?=
Would
it burn out? or fume away?
Since my cone sitter just broke I'm firing by prometer & visible cone=
packs.
Would I need to "suit up" to check the cones?
BTW, I used about a tablespoon stannous chloride in about 6 oz water =
to make
the spray. Would I have gotten the irridecense with a more concentrat=
ed
solution? I have checked the archives for this info without finding a=
n
answer.
Thanks for any info!
