Clays are mined. Clay mine-runs vary. The folk who mine clays do not do it
for the sake of Mitzy's Old Blue Eyes c.6 Glaze but for the sake of soem
major industry that buys their clay by the railroad carful.

Over and over and over again there are inquiries, based on changes in
suppliers, or a clay disappearing: I cannot get X clay, can I use Y? Most
of the time you can. I have used lots of recipes that called for Grolleg
and used any old white clay instead and done fine. The variations in the
same-name-clay over decades probably exceed the differences between
differently named clays from the same geographic or do I mean geological
area.

There are two caveats (no, not and black) Both titanium and iron contents
may affect your glaze results. So check the sheet they sent you...

And again. KEEP A PINT JAR OF THE 'RIGHT'CLAY as a control, so that if the
new clay does not work as expected you can check back.

Currently, AC Sparkplug uses EPK so it must meet their specifications.
As a result we potters can count on the consistancy of that material.
But should AC decide to change their specs EPK will probably be affected.
