Hi guys. I am planing to relocate in SC (near Charleston)and would like some
advice on Galleries, craft fairs, etc.I have been working in Germany since
1983 so am really out of it when it comes down to simple things in the
States. Like what is the general cost for fire'n an electric kiln to cone 6.
Talk to me off list so everyone can get back to the NEA and the looting
threads. Kalkplatz(the german version of this list had a couple of War
comments this last week but even given the general antiAmerican attitude
here it really stayed on clay issues-it just isn't as active as this list).
Take care all, kenn the lurker in Germany

Hi Kenneth,
My daughter is a freshman at College Of Charleston so I have been to
visit the city a few times. There are three nice galleries that I found in
the city. The best one I feel is the gallery at the Charleston Clay Works.
It is on Meeting Street. It is run by Susan Filey (very nice lady) who is
the organizer for NECCA. She has a studio there and rents space to other
artists for work space. I don't know any of the terms. They have a gas kiln
and also electric.
the gallery there is wonderful. You will see pots from very well know
potters. The ones that you see in all the Ceramics magazines. the people
that work there are very friendly and always invite you to walk back into
the work area to see the working studios and the pots they are working on.
Besides seeing my daughter this always one of the high points of my trip!
enjoy!
Diane
