I do not see any reason why you would not be able to print onto paper,
Judy. Not if it is only "gritty" as you describe. You only have to use
thicker paper or use a blanket to protect thinner papers from becoming
"embossed" with the roller pattern.

Yes. I agree with Janet. Usually there is a press apron of thick felt.
I have the gritty rollers. I use slab mats on mine. I think you should
be able to print using an apron. I have been thinking of doing monotypes.
