We just ask members what information they want released... there
are some "flags" in our database that determine what info the member wants
shared with the public, what info they share with other members, and
what info is kept confidential.

When I set up the format for the website for our local arts council, the
artists were given the option of any or all of the following: phone,
address, e-mail, bio, website link, and one image of their choosing. Most
of the artists who submitted info for the web included their address and
phone number. Several were uncomfortable with a bio. As you said, it's
difficult to promote your work without contact info. The site has been up
for over a year, and so far I've not heard of any problems.

Full details disclosure for those unconcerned.
Links to personal websites
Personal phone & group post box number.
Email address to group website which diverts to my addy if member does not have computer access.

I am putting together a website for my local potter's guild and what I'm
wondering is how to handle the member directory. I'm leery of posting
contact info on the web. But on the other hand, if you are interested in
promoting and selling your work your contact information needs to be
available doesn't it?
I would appreciate hearing how other folks have handled a similar situation.
I would just link the potter's name to their own website, but most of our
potters are without one.
Thanks,
Valerie
