Dear Katie,
I just realized your mood reminds me of an otherwise
long-not-thought-of Author...
Her name was Barry Stephens, and a short piece of her
writing I remember likeing very much was called 'Curtain
Raiser', which maybe you can
find on the internet, or I could send easily enough a scan
of the few pages in an
'e-mail'.
One mention of hers I remember...
" I was a high-school dropout, 1918. I wanted to learn what
was not taught in school..."
There is a lot in that last sentence...
