Sharon and Tom,

>> When I clicked on your website, I got a virus alert just as Tom Sawyer did so did not proceed further into your website. Thanks for posting the 39 beautiful african pots. <<

I'm only chiming in here because I'd hate for someone not to have the
pleasure of seeing Marta's pots. I've been a fan for quite a while, gave
her a guest page on my site and had the pleasure of working together
with her in San Diego before NCECA.

I suspect that this is something having to do with your browsers
(perhaps a cookie thing). I went to each of all of the sites involved
(african pots, Marta's Silverhawk site and Marta's Guest Page on my
site) and got nothing but pictures.

Those advertising Pop-ups (fake or not) have little to do with the
artist. They're put there by the ISP or the person who designed the site
to help pay for the site. Whether this is ethical or not, we're not
discussing here. In any case complaints should be addressed to the web
master or the ISP. In the case of the Silverhawk site, complaints should
be addressed to Tyler Hannigan, the organiser of that site. I think he
monitors this list and perhaps has taken the pop-ups off.

Sometimes artists build their pages on sites where they know there will
be a lot of pop-ups but the trade off for the artist is that the site is
free. It's a decision that you have to make. I decided not to because I
wanted total control over how my site looks.

Also, if you get a virus alert while browsing a site DEFINITELY bring it
to the attention of the "webmaster" of the site or their ISP.

Anyway, please go look at Marta's pots and ignore the pop-ups, if
any....pop-up. They're not Marta's doing.

Russel

Aha--Marta's moving too fast for you, Russel! The virus "warning" site is
none of these! It's this one:

http://www.angelfire.com/mn2/marta/

And when I returned a few minutes ago the ad banner was touting AT&T. It
apparently is a rotating ad, because right now, moments later, I see the
anti-virus banner again. And it's not a 'pop-up' nor has it anything to do
with those incomprehensible cookie thingies.

Dunno about you, but *I* am gonna take Stephani Stephenson's marvelous and
delightfully told advice and emulate Lucy Ricardo:

"WAAAAAAH! This Internet is just toooo confusing for me to ever
understand!"

:-)

time he encountered that damnable "Virus Warning" ad banner!
