Oh no, Oh NO!! Tucked between the mini die grinder (we use) &
the air hydraulic riveter on page 10 of my brand new just arrived
today Summer 2003 catalog is:
A new GRAVITY FEED true HVLP gun for
11.99 USD
It has a 16Oz. Cup.
It runs off a "STANDARD BLOWER ENABLED SHOP VAC" (no
compressor needed).
Air inlet size: 1 7/32 " ID (this is a standard?)
Weight 0.8 Lbs
Looks like the handle and body is made out of the same easy to
wash plastic material as the cup, but nozzle & pull lever are metal.
My catalog # is 563-K
The part # is 47482-OUUH
1-800-423-2567
Disclaimer:
No relationship with Harbor Freight except that I am addicted to
reading about every item in every new catalog and wish I had the
time and funds to buy every laser guided brass log splitter stud
finder thingy they sell. (like ohh, the 8" rubber tire with double
ball bearing race for $3.99 for example)
Some thoughts:
1. This gun may be an ideal 2nd gun/ back up for 44677 unit that a
number
of folks are now using, but air inlet size for this unit is given as
1.137
( or 1 5/32" - another "standard"?)
2. A high volume low pressure air line can be installed using PVC Pipe
to get
the blower out of earshot - about the same as a compressor.
3. Some scenarios where people use the same limited glazes over and over
during the day might lend to having one gun per glaze. Whatever, would
think
this would be good news for somebody.
4. Same old HVLP issues should apply....
a. the nozzle size will be big enough to allow some materials that would
otherwise cause problems.
b. the air will be continuos i.e. not shut off when the lever relaxed -
one gets used to
this but strange at first.
5. By the way, as somebody that has burned up a number of shopvacs
trying to
keep dust down on our cutting machines, you generally do not want to
run the
these units all day, just when needed, they will run for multiple
100's of hours
but not forever.
Best,
George
Where I just spent a sunny day training my software to decorate on even
bigger
slabs, now at maximum 30" by 30" for any single piece - much bigger than
my kiln. I should have been out on the bike some. In Sturgeon Bay
there is
a 5 mile path that includes 4 parks, 3 marinas, 2 bridges, 1 museum, and
only 1
mean (serious sized) dog.
