embarrassed mug exchange question

updated sat 3 may 03

Hey...

Hmmmm....this is a bit embarrassing...but I first misplaced the mug that I
was supposed to send to my mug exchange partner, but I did FINALLY get it
out last week, priority mail, and it was to arrive last Wednesday. It never
arrived. It was supposed to go to Joanne L. Van Bezooyen who has been
waiting patiently in Tucson for it. There is no tracer on it...I was just
so glad to have remembered to mail it.

By any chance, in my hurry to get it mailed, did I copy ANOTHER Clayarter's
name and address on it? Did anyone get a mug from me out of the blue????

I'd wait another week. My experience with the US Post Office and their
supposed three day delivery is that it can take up to two weeks to arrive.
Recently I have been adding the "delivery confirmation" sticker for an
additional 40 cents. For some reason, ones that I have sent with the
delivery confirmation seem to get there more reliably. Hmmmm.... Also, when
I went to the Post Office to complain about one of my late deliveries, they
asked me if it had a delivery confirmation, which it didn't. Without the
delivery confirmation they have no way of tracking it even if they wanted
to. An additional 40 cents is worth it to me to have some possibility of
tracking the thing.

My mug was sent 5 weeks before it finally arrived.
I sent a box of slides from Sarasota Fl, to Los Angeles and they took 6
and 1/2 weeks to get there..

The US Post Office is a sad joke.

You can save that 40 cents by purchasing priority mail postage on line at
the USPS.com site using a charge card. I began doing this several weeks
ago. It's pretty neat cuz you print the label/postage out on your printer
and there's a part you keep with all the info...shipped to, when, how much.
And the confirmation is FREE! Track it at the USPS site. A nickel saved is
still just a nickel.
