Dear Lily,

Wanted to pop in and thank you for your kindness in sending me your
articles. I received this morn and love them. How did you guess getting my
husband to make a wedging table was on my list? HA. I shall indeed share
the extra copy and it will be passed around to many I am sure. Thank you so
much for sharing and being so selfless.

Hope all is well with your hand- as for me I am off to start making tools.
These are awesome articles.

Much Aloha,
Carol

When I have spray things I am able to put on full protectivde gear and work
outdoors. However: has anyone designed a spray booth that fits in a window
or in a hole in the wall and exhausts to the outside? I was looking
--soulfully-- at my clothes dryer this morning. and wondering....has anyone
adapted that general idea to spraybooths?

Afternoon Lily

Have a look at Kurt Wild's website in the "odd and ends" where he has
pictures of his studio and shows his spray booth mounted on the outside.

I've been following the posts re design for a spray booth that exhausts to
the outside world via a hole in the wall. Not likely to be a big success
with a Shop Vac, unless the booth is very small. Really needs a bigger
blower with lots more grunt. I've salvaged several magnificent blowers from
deceased air conditioner units, and built a totally successful spray booth
around one of these.

Basically it's a big rectangular box, open at the front, supported about
waist high on four legs. Towards the back of the box there's a curtain of
filter material, hanging vertically about 150 mm from the back wall. Behind
the curtain there's a big hole in the floor of the box, with a sheet metal
chimney leading down to a recycled air conditioner unit on the floor below.
The whole contraption fits snugly against the wall of the workshop, and a
hole about 300 mm square leads out through the wall, low down, for the
exhaust. The idea is that the blower draws air into the booth, through the
filter curtain, down through the chimney, into the air conditioner through a
hole cut in its cabinet, and out through the vent in the wall. And it works
very well indeed.

The printout of the Glaze Spraying booklet that was on offer back in
February includes three pages describing all this, with pictures and
dimensions and some ideas about the blower and the filter material. Still on
offer if it helps, as either a Word 97 file or as a pdf document (this last
by courtesy of Jack Rosenberg, who converted the original file to a pdf and
emailed it back. Thanks Jack.)

For any others collecting ideas for a home-brewed spraybooth, this might
save having to re-invent the wheel. Make contact off list if you'd like a
look.

I have been following this thread and wonder if any of you creative =
inventors have thought of a way to rig up a "swamp cooler" to work as a =
spraybooth. Here in the desert, we use swamp coolers on dry days to =
vent and cool off our houses and studios. Just a random thought..don't =
have any idea of how it could be done.
