I have just received a request for information on where to buy clay and a
kiln near McAllen, a small town which is in the southern tip of Texas.
Since I live in Southern Ontario, Canada I was wondering if any one in that
area can make recommendations. Apparently McAllen is within 250 Miles of
Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas but hopefully there is someone
closer to McAllen than that.

McAllen is not really a great distance (by Texas standards) from
San Antonio. Couple hours drive, is all. That's going to be the
closest place to buy clay and equipment. There's one large clay
supplier there, and there is one in Austin - Armadillo Clay (a bit further).
I'm not really sure that they'll need a kiln, though. In another
month or so, the ambient temperature will take care of it.......

Clay World in San Antonio is pretty decent. They have a pretty wide
selection of clay in stock. They are located downtown on Martin Street.

I live in McAllen and believe me, there is not anywhere here to buy
supplies..There are a couple of ceramic businesses here but they don't
really sell supplies, especially clay....I'm going to contact some others
in the valley or at least closer than San Antonio too see if they might
consider stocking items. I've been trying to meet other people here that
are also artist of clay. I also do Porcelain dolls and sculpt (model)
clay, but can't find anyone else here.
