Dear Barry Chlypavka,
You ask how to get the following recipe to behave at cone 8 or 9
F4> 5
custer> 3
dolomite>3
talc> 3
whiting> 0.4
Ball clay> 2
Silica. 3.6
standard black oxide load.
My suggestions are as follows;
1st Do not change the recipe but, hold or retard the heating as cone 8 =
starts to go over. Allow more time for the chemistry to complete and the =
glaze to settle. Might mean waiting a couple of hours longer.
2nd Recalculate the glaze to eliminate potential causes of gassing, that =
is, the Whiting and the Dolomite. Get rid of them. Recalculate your =
glaze to the same Unity Formula substituting Wollastonite and more Talc.
