And Hank weighs in......."Fired a smallish (30 cu ft) downdraft coal
kiln at the A.P.Green brick and tile plant at Mica, WA in the
mid-sixties. Cone 10 salt. The main difficulty was preventing clinkers
from forming in the firemouth. Also, ash did not melt in places, though
there were some very nice pots once they were re-fired.
