I have the northstar slab roller. I have the large model with 36 inch wide rollers The rollers (top and bottom) are geared together so both roll out the slab (sandwiched between two layers of canvas - top and bottom). The rollers are made of aluminum and are about 4+ inch in diameter and are knurled (to "grab" the canvas). I also have their table to mount the slab roller machine on. Well worth it - very very well constructed. I mounted the table/slab roller on locking wheels so I could move it out of the way when not in use. The table measures about 40 inch wide and about 60+ inches long and about 40+ inches tall. When not in use for slab rolling it makes a good drying shelf. The slab rollers are about 1/4 the way in from one en of the table. Easy to adjust thickness (need to adjust both sides). Reason for sellecting the northstar is that you compress the clay from both sides at the same time which I was told best way to it. It is a little harder to roll/slab clay this way as the clay has to slide between the rollers and slide across the table (between the canvas top and bottom of the clay). I have also used the large Bailey or Brent(?) at school and that works great too - but o
nly compresses clay one side and you need to store a bunch of thickness shims. The roller moves across the table and can only be adjusted with shims. I also have the northstar extruder which only works for me IF I have very soft clay - reason - can't get any leverage on the force handle as it is fixed at the top rather than "adjustible" like other extruders. Instead of pulling down on the handle (using your weight) and then resetting for more leverage, I generally wind up having to push the handle toward the extruder with little leverage. It extrudes well though. Sam in Daly City.

(the only slab roller I've used is an old Brent with
shims) Let me know how you like it. Thanks so much
for responding
