If you looking for a software that would work for POS of consignment. Our
Co-op shop use a dos based software call Craft Shop. Its a good program
for handling multiple customer consignment with different consignment
rates. It also prints price tags and checks. Not sure if they offer a
accounting module with it or not. We didn't buy the accounting program
just the POS. So we use Quickbooks for handling the day to day expense. I
have not seen a Windows based software package that will handle a Co-op
consignment shop. If anyone knows of one I love to hear about it.

Hi,
I can recommend Quickbooks we have been using it for a number of years. You
can also take credit card payments for internet sales. Its quick and easy.
The only thing to watch is, if you AOL as your ISP you can have problems
sending Quickbooks internet invoices (or any POP3 / SMPT mail). This is due
to the way AOL handles email and any attachments, the link to the banks
secure server may not work. The way around this is to use a software patch
which will allow AOL to send and receive POP3 / SMTP email. We do this with
no problems. Quickbooks will generate the email invoice with 2 attachments.
1 is the invoice in pdf format and the second is the payment link. we use
AOL2POP. you can get it at http://www.AOL2Pop.com
Regards to all , will we see any of you at Potfest Scotland?

I use Quickbooks as well for business. It's on the pricey side imo though if you only want to use it for inventory since it is meant to respond to all your accounting needs including payroll. If you consider it, be sure to check out their competitor, Peachtree, which I am told has been improved in terms of user friendliness.
A nuisance with Quickbooks, I use it for payroll and for a fee they provide you with the tax table updates; however, they are constantly "upgrading" (Microsoft Syndrome) and phase out older version which are perfectly functional if you don't need all the bells and whistles. Check the history of any software you purchase so you are not forced to "upgrade" over the years.

Artisans Storefront described below by Jennifer is a Windows program. And so much
friendlier than the Craft Shop system, which she also described. And, it is
Jennifer! who spent the three years looking for a new POS program. Thank you,
Jennifer.

Here's the web site. Say Jennifer from Artisans Hand in VT told
you about them. They advertised in Crafts Report for awhile.
That's where we found them...They probably only advertised in
general crafts mags rather then potters mags, since they were
going after craft galleries which are mainly mixed media.

I'm interested in this software, too. Is it advertised in Ceramics Monthly,
Pottery Making Illustrated, or Clay Times? Enquiring minds want to know...
