Dear May,
The Stack at the Smelter is six hundred feet high. And that is to take =
effluent which has already been through the scrubbers to clean it.
There is an international conference at Port Pirie about Lead in the =
environment sometime this spring (Sept) which is being organised by the =
local EPA I am wondering if I can get a visitors pass to some of the =
session.
I cannot find any information in my resources about the boiling point of =
Lead oxides. Metallic Lead boils well above the firing temp of most of =
our pottery kilns but I would expect it to oxidise in the atmosphere. =
You would need to do some research at the British Library or ask someone =
at the British Ceramic Research Association for help on this one.
I am not sure of the opinion of others on the list but it would seem to =
be a prudent move to have the Clay Studio separate from the Kiln Room =
and to give both adequate ventilation.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis. Redhill, South Australia
