I just read an article in a UK ceramics mag, the name of which I can't
remember at the moment,
about Sean Miller, with photos of his awesome slip decorated earthenware
pots. To me they're spectacular- such depth and activity. I'd pay $275
for one of these pots, although they probably don't
cost that much. In the article's technical sidebar, it said the pots are
glazed with a lead bisilicate glaze.
The surfaces are truly rich- I guess maybe you can't get that any other
way at earthenware temp.
