YES!! It obviously made an impression, since I recall it so vividly
after all these years!! In fact he packed a box that could have been
a wholesale order. Mugs, plates, bowls, etc. He packed them in bubble
wrap, two or three to a mini-bundle. Then he put the mini-bundles
together into bigger bundles and filled the box. He stuffed it until
it was full and then stuffed it some more. NOTHING could rattle,
nothing could move. Then of course, he put that box into an outer box
and packed the space in between. That box was not light. The box
landed HARD. And nothing broke. He said to pack knowing it would be
thrown around. A good lesson learned. As far as I know, nothing has
ever broken when we ship out our boxes at the end of the Strictly
Functional Pottery National! The do come to us broken, but they don't
break when we use the VanGilder method of packing!
