Sites from the UK

Hi everyone,

The De Morgan Centre Ceramics Collection

Part of the collection of the De Morgan Centre for the Study of 19th.
Century Art.
Half a dozen of De Morgan's pieces, three of which can be seen in an
enlarged form.
De Morgan Centre Home Page: .

Two from the Axis UK Artists' database
Sarah Britten-Jones

Work may be painterly, kitsch, metaphorical, sculptural, or abstract in
approach. Britten-Jones makes ceramic vessels inspired by nineteenth
century European Porcelain, with both fired on and post fire decoration
that is colourful, playful and decorative and humerous, and minimally
decorated floor pieces.
Vivien Nicola Jones

Comical anthropomorphic bird figures. I particularly like the one
entitled: "I'm a Little Teapot".
The home page of the Axis Database has changed to
(dropped the final characters: "uk." I
was going to show another link to a digitally designed Ceramics
exhibition, but it can't be accessed at this time. The database is
meant to be searchable; you must answer a three-question survey. The
alphabetical search is presently non - operational, but you can search
for more general terms using the drop-down boxes.

UK Potter Rob Sollis - contemporary ceramics & raku pottery

Sollis makes hand-thrown, turned and burnished ceramics glazed, and raku
fired. Some recent pieces are finished with metallic and spray paint
techniques. Formal shapes and mainly smooth surfaces or finely matte
finishes. The one Raku piece on view is glossy light blue-green with
black in the crackle lines.

UK Kilns and ceramic equipment

The kilns and spray booths sections are the most developed so far.
Water wash and dry back spray booths:

Roger Mitchell and his studio "Lustre Pottery"
This last one comes with notice that some of the ceramics and paintings
by this artist have erotic content.

The Ceramics, Paintings and Pottery Designs of Roger Michell.
Mitchell's work is quite imaginative. Much of it is both sculptural and
painterly. One of his specialties is large hand thrown bowls with
decorative tile edging attached with coloured tiling cement. There is
an archive of pieces from his former production studio work as well.
Some links are not functional on some of the pages, such as the link on
the home page to the Paintings section. (I think this section is not
online yet anyway, so stick with the ceramics and pottery.)

All the best.

Helen
