Hello all- For those who are looking for a little web browsing distraction-
I have been busy web mastering this past rainy weekend, and have gotten
halfway through scanning
and posting the photos of building my wood kiln in the fall of 01. It's
not a real instructional presentation-it's more anecdotal; I just wanted
to do it because it was such a great project to undertake and complete.I
used a Photosohp template to make the kiln building page, and there's no
"home" button. I'll
fix that soon- best to just type a new address in if you want to bail-
it gets to be a lot of "back"
button pushes otherwise.

Coming up on firing number five- it's a dream come true for me.
Here are some pots from the last firing. Hopefully have another load in
two weeks.

I'm going to try to scan the rest of the photos this week, and get them
posted next week.
And a photo of a little gas kiln I've almost finished, so I can fire
glazes without salt and ash
someitmes- it's based on Nick Molatore's kiln that he
posted about not too long ago- a little bigger, and also with a really
heavy lid.
Trying to work out a good counterweight/hinge system.

Lastly in the kiln building department- got my little raku kiln going
last week- using a big B4 burner, one of a pair that I normally use to
preheat the wood kiln. I think I could go to 1850F in about ten minutes.
A few pots from last week and some older ones.

Also posted some new cone 6 electric pots. No new glazes, just an
attempt to turn my habitual ways of working to this temp/atmosphere.

On an unrelated topic, it really was bittersweet to come across the
recent mentions of Peggy Heer-I knew her only from her work, but her
pots were so great, and she seemed like such a great person- still very
sad even at this distance. I often reread the CM article- I have it
stuck in the back of my glaze notebook.
Well- time to actually go make some pots...
cheers
