Folks,

I received one of the very few legitimate posts to my Yahoo e-mail
address, generated by my PMI Online articles. (Mostly I get sheer spam
there.)

Artist in Residence Genna Grushovenko is having an show at the
Chattahoochee Valley Art Museum in LaGrange, Georgia, from June 14-July
12, 2003. The work is viewable in a preview on a web site that I will
not give here, because unfortunately it is crashing in several of my
browsers.

Anyway, for those in the area of LaGrange, the show looks nice, and is
mostly functional work in a number of glaze styles. He will be
demonstrating his techniques the evening of the reception on June 14th.
in a studio installation in the CVAM's Joyce R. Jackson Gallery.

Genna also has a personal page on the above-mentioned site, which is too
bad, because he has some work for sale there, along with the pieces in
the new show.

The CVAM site shown below is OK to visit, but is very small, and has no
pictures of the artist's work:

Clayarters,

I received a query from Signe Grushovenko, who is Genna Grushovenko's
wife, about my problems with their web site. I tried it again, and I do
continue to have problems with it, but I'm not fully able to explain
why, except that it may have to do with how the javascript is written,
and / or how it affects my cache and temporary internet files (PC
running Windows 98, originally surfed in with Netscape 7x then IE 6x,
then Opera 7x.) Things had run well for a while, and I saw a lot of
nice pieces. Then the crashing started. All these browsers crashed,
and eventually the system froze. Memory problems.

Tonight I emptied what I could from the Temporary Internet files and
then the Netscape 7 cache and got the site running well in IE 6. Then I
tried Netscape 7 again and Opera, and after a bit on the former, it
crashed, and Opera closed itself down when I was using it.

Well, I wonder if anyone who knows javascript and other esoterica like
that might mind taking a look at it, because it is a nice site, with
nice work by Genna, and by Signe too, and work by several other artists
(2D) as well.

Here's the url: .

(I haven't made it "Clickable" like I usually do, because I don't want
anyone to load that page without thinking... I prefer if you make a
conscious, considered decision to load the page.) (I spent quite a bit
of time trying to figure the problem out, without coming to any firm
conclusions. I see dozens, if not scores of sites a day, and don't have
this problem with most of them, and if I do, I think it is javascript
that causes the difficulty.)

Thanks in advance.

Hello Signe,

I downloaded several updated versions of my various browsers after
clearing all caches.

Opera 7.11 views your pages very well, and the menu buttons load
quickly. (The old Opera never did recover and load more than one or at
most two pages before closing itself down, but the new installation
seems to have fixed the Opera problem.)

In any recent version of Netscape, 7.01 or 7.02, the site loads and I
can navigate it adequately, but the java applet buttons continue to load
very slowly and they reload whenever I load another page on the sit.

Mozilla 1.3 beta and 1.4 beta handle the site about the same as Netscape
7.0.

I think (not sure) that Opera has a different version of the Java Plugin
than Netscape and Mozilla do.

I had no trouble with Internet Explorer today.

This whole issue may just possibly have been caused by an error event of
some sort, initially affecting my Netscape 7.01 browser, and then the
other browsers, something that corrupted files on my system, and that
replacing the browsers with updated versions may have fixed. I just
don't know.

I do know that I can now view your website
and the preview page
all the way through without any problem.

Yours truly,

Helen

PS: I hope you had a good turnout for Genna's opening reception today. -h
