Making a "Norman" butter bowl

Jim Rowe (Rowe Pottery Works) (Cambridge, WI, USA)

Salt glazed, Albany Slip decorated, and other types of glazed country=20
decor pottery, hand thrown and decorated in this large studio with over=20
a dozen potters and another dozen decorators. Makes a "butter tub", but=20
it's not possible to tell from the picture whether it is the so-called=20
"French" type or not. It's found on this page:=20

For Butter dish illustration look at the link "Butterdosen." Then click=20
on "My English Page" for more. There is a "French Butter Dish" gallery=20
as well - very pretty pots!

When it is suggested that one check the archives, it's often the Potters=20
Org archives that people are thinking of. Unfortunately, you can't get=20
very far searching Potters Org's version of the archives for this topic.=20
It doesn't have a separate category. A few posts are scattered under=20
other topics but they aren't technical.

Here is a link to AcerS Clayart archives with the search term: "(butter=20
dish) or (butter pot) or (butter crock) or (butter tub) or (butter bell)=20
or (butter bowl)" (without the quotation marks.) Do something else=20
while it downloads, even with a fast modem. (146 matches )

Here is the AcerS Clayart search page url:
http://lsv.ceramics.org/scripts/wa.exe?S1=3Dclayart

There are the e-scribe and yahoo groups archives to try, if you prefer.
Escribe is very quick:
=
=20
(search "butter dish") (125 matches) (Latest posts are furthest to the=20
right in the "Previous 30 Posts / Next 30 Posts" menu below the=20
selections.

I don't think much of the Yahoo Groups archive. Maybe I don't have the=20
patience for it...
