Actually Craig, you didn't describe the very unique way you position your
stamp (at least on the teabowl I have) but I'll tell the list:

The bottom inside of the footring is trimmed, except for a little round
island. That's where the stamp is. The rest is glazed. A very tidy effect,
an example of attention paid to all stages of making.

Good firings,
Ann Brink in Lompoc CA, who uses just my first name, all caps, because I can
make the signature with a few quick slashes of a fingernail, legibly too.

Hello Ann:

Thanks for noticing. I had a problem with the tenmoku glaze on the bottoms
of pots. The stamp was most always obscured by the glaze. Sometimes I
could get the glaze just right and the bottom would be black except for an
orange CM that was revealed when the tenmoku melted over my stamp. Kind of
hard to do with a good degree of success so I started waxing out the chop
mark. On some of the other pots that I can't wax in a nice little circle
over the stamp I use 3/4 inch round price stickers. The people at the
Office supply store are always asking me what I do with all the round price
stickers.
