Some weeks ago I asked for advice from Ron about possibility
of cadmium leaching using Ferro 239416 Yellow in a cone 11
base glaze that gets fired in reduction. At the advice of Ron and
Jon's cone 6 book, I used Brandywine Science Center in
Pennsylvania to do the testing. The concentration of inclusion
stain in the base is 12%, and analysis results showed less than
0.01 mg/L cadmium release, well under the 0.5 mg/L maximum
leaching level set by the FDA for "small hollowware." Please
note that this result is in a base glaze that does not craze over
the particular porcelain body that I use.
The result means that alot of aesthetic cosiderations
of yellow color hue are now possible. For me, one third of the
primary color pallette has been missing until now.

Hi David,
Any chance you would be willing to share the recipe of that glaze. We could
all learn something about the durability of cone 10 glazes if you would.

Did you get the recipe? I'll be happy to do a repost.
Would like to learn more about durability of cone 10
glazes myself.
